I wouldn’t call myself a veteran seeing as this year was only my third otakon but I have to say that year over year I just become more and more impressed with them. One of the first things that pops into my mind thinking about Otakon 2010 is just how well managed it was.

This week in a very special I Don’t Even, we watch what is perhaps the most scientifically inaccurate movie of all time: The Core. In a world where the earth’s core stops spinning, a group of terranauts must defy almost every law of physics as they try to restart it by just setting off nuclear explosions in the earth’s core. No, this does not make any sense at all. The problems caused by the lack of spinning from the earth’s core range from pacemakers stopping in a 12 block radius …

The Cold War has supposedly been over for 20 years now, so what’s with all these films pitting Cold War spies against each other? Salt continues the trend formulaically, but also spectacularly- it is truly the new template by which “Spy vs Spy” films should follow.

Guess who’s back…back again…Predators returns the franchise to the jungle, but manages to keep the formula intact. Whether this is a good thing is entirely up to the viewer.

This week for I Don’t Even we are watching Crystal Triangle. This is another one of those classic OVAs from the same era that brought us masterpieces like MD Geist and Mad Bull 34.

Somehow we’ve never done a syfy original movie before. I would normally summarize the plot here or something, but I think the boxart and the words “syfy original movie” do a good enough job by themselves.
